Endowments make sense for all charities

Every day fund raising for current operations is enough pressure on managers of any nonprofit. Our experience at Ugbajo Itsekiri over the last 25 years has not been different. Your Exco is constantly thinking about the next convention, paying for programs etc. that we often not think about raising money until we need it or the one-time event at our conventions.
However, we know charities that give some thought to sourcing endowment gifts can ride out storms and guarantee a minimum level of service to communities and populations it serves. The annual interest or dividends from a well-managed endowment can mean the difference between survival or closing the doors.
Historically over the long-term conservative investments in the S&P Index in the US market has returned 7% to 10% annually over the last 50 years. If we could do one or two million dollars, right there is our annual income for many projects that we could execute
