In May 20210 Ugbajo Itsekiri sent a delegation under the leadership of Mr. Bawo Ayomike ( then President) on an inaugural needs assessment visit to Nigeria. One of their major findings was that virtually all Itsekiri rural communities had no source of year-round potable water. A constant refrain of a point of pain from the rural inhabitants was a desire for a source of water for all needs . That year our Board resolved to do its best to meet some of these water needs. Since then, our organization has spent over $200,000 in building solar powered water projects in Ajigba, Orugbo, Jakpa, Ajamitan and Bobi – Itsekiri communities which otherwise had no potable water.
Ugbajo Itsekiri recognizes and applauds the efforts of other entities and individuals who have developed water projects in communities near Warri. We urge these entities and individuals to also direct their attention to more distant communities down river from Warri, Sapele and Koko. So much more needs to be done . The work is not finished. Ugbajo Itsekiri can only be a partner and catalyst in this area due to limited resources.
