Ugbajo Itsekiri USA was incorporated in Washington DC  USA on November 27, 1998,  as a nonprofit United States Corporation. In 1999 it applied for and received  tax-exempt status from  the United States Department of Treasury  (IRS) as a 501 C 3  organization. This conferred  on it  certain privileges including the ability to receive tax free donations from the public in the United States to help it  pursue its mission in the United States and around the world. It is the apex  Itsekiri  organization  bringing together all Itsekiri Associations in the United States under one umbrella.

The Association started with 6 associations   . Today there are 10 . Each a separate independent organization that subscribes to the Constitution and ideals of our organization.
